As a person gets older they may realize that they would like to learn how to play an instrument and if they continue to let time pass by they will never do it. I am certainly not going to complain about my job right now. It is a great job all things considered. I am working for a major oilfield services company in the Alberta Oil Sand fields. So I am downloading all sorts of Youtube music videos that I have not seen and keeping them on my computer.

The words come a whole lot easier than the beats do. Then at other times a beat will be in my head and I will try to get it into a track for later use. I must admit that I am better with words than I am at the music tracks that give me the rhythm I need to go with the words. It all started when I was looking for beats for sale. Rap is much maligned by those who do not understand the genre. I also have to admit that the genre has its own issues the same as any other music does. My rhymes tell the truth of what is going on in our society but always end with a positive message for the future. One we can build on if we are willing to work at it. To me, this art form is more than just about money.

O rapper Lil Wayne e o Coldplay, com oito e sete indicações, respectivamente, lideraram a lista de indicados ao Grammy 2009.

O Coldplay foi o principal indicado nas categorias gerais graças a seu álbum Viva la Vida, com o qual concorrerá nas categorias Álbum do Ano, Canção do Ano, Letra do Ano e Interpretação de Grupo, assim como Álbum de Rock, Canção de Rock e Interpretação de Rock.

A banda, que já ganhou quatro Grammys, disputará na categoria de Álbum do Ano com o rapper Lil Wayne, que lançou Tha Carter III. Além deles, os também britânicos do Radiohead, com In Rainbows, Ne-Yo, com Year of the Gentleman, e Robert Plant/Allison Krauss, com Raising Sand, também foram indicados ao prêmio de disco mais importante de 2008.

Wayne, que ainda não conquistou um Grammy, dominou as indicações das categorias de rap, nas quais recebeu duas nomeações para Melhor Álbum e Melhor Canção.

As indicações para a 51ª edição do Grammy foram anunciadas em uma cerimônia transmitida pela TV direto de Los Angeles, e com a apresentação de muitos vencedores do prêmio, como Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, B.B. King e Christina Aguilera.

Os artistas britânicos dominaram as indicações este ano para Melhor Álbum, com Coldplay (Viva la Vida), a jovem Adele (Chasing Pavements), a cantora M.I.A. (Paper Planes) e Leoa Lewis (Bleeding Love). Robert Plant & Allison Krauss também concorrem na categoria, com Please Read The Letter.

De acordo com a Academia de Gravação dos EUA, que organiza o Grammy, o prêmio de melhor letra será disputado entre as canções Viva la Vida (Coldplay), Chasing Pavements (Adele), Love Song (Sara Bareilles), I’m Yours (Jason Mraz) e American Boy (Kanye West).

O rapper Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, e Kanye West concorreram em seis categorias, Radiohead, Allison Krauss, Robert Plant, John Mayer e Jazmine Sullivan em cinco; e Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, e T.I. em quatro.

Entre as grandes estrelas da música que também foram indicadas se destacam Madonna, Bruce Springsteen e Paul McCartney, com duas candidaturas cada um.

Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper, Kylie Minogue e B.B King foram indicados em uma categoria, assim como os atores Steve Martin, Sydney Poitier e Gwyneth Paltrow, que podem receber um Grammy por sua interpretação em um disco falado.

Para a escolha dos candidatos ao Grammy em 2009, a Academia de Gravação levou em conta apenas os discos lançados entre 1º de outubro de 2007 e 30 de setembro de 2008, o que fez com que os últimos lançamentos de Beyonce (I am… Sasha Fierce) e Britney Spears (Circus) ficarem de fora da cerimônia.

A 51ª edição da cerimônia do Grammy acontecerá no dia 8 de fevereiro de 2009, no Staples Center, em Los Angeles.
